Klinkhamer family
Klinkhamer was the name of a Mennonite family of Amsterdam found in the Lamist congregation from about 1650. Barent Klinkhamer, a well-to-do silk merchant, married to Cecelia Looten, was a deacon of the Lamist Church. He was known for his liberality toward the poor, both Mennonites and others. Govert Klinkhamer (Amsterdam, 1702-1774), a son of the foregoing, was a (mediocre) poet; in 1725 he published at Amsterdam De Kruisgezant, of het Leeven van den Apostel Paulus (two volumes).
