Karel (Chaerle) Hannebeel, an Anabaptist martyr, called simply Karel by van Braght (Martyrs' Mirror), was burned at the stake on 8 November 1567 at Kortrijk (Courtrai) in Flanders, Belgium, together with Joos Casteels, Willem Aertsz, and Jaques Mesdag. Karel, who was a native of Nederwaestene, and was arrested in Zwevegem, had been a member of the church since 1563. He frankly confessed his faith and died steadfast.
