Jantz, Peter (1744-1810)
Peter Jantz was born at Jeziorka, Schwetz (at that time German; now Polish), 3 June 1744, and died 2 September 1810. His parents were among the original settlers of Franzthal, Neumark, near Driesen. In 1765 he married Ancke Wedel. Jantz served the Przechovka Flemish Mennonite Church and the Brenkenhoffswalde Mennonite Church 48 years as minister and the latter as elder for a period of 34 years. He was instrumental in obtaining the land and the money to build the church in 1778, having appealed to the Mennonites in Holland for aid.
