Pieter Anton Jansz, a Dutch Mennonite missionary in Indonesia, son of Pieter Jansz, was born 29 May 1853. In 1881 he took over his father's work and carried out the idea his father had expressed in his booklet in 1874; namely, to form a settlement and integrate all activities such as instruction, clearing of the land, school, evangelization, community and church, in founding the mission colony Margaredjo. The colony prospered, and in 1936, when P. A. Jansz resigned, the congregation numbered nearly 800 members. The school has also been blessed in its work, especially in training native teachers. After his resignation he left his beloved Margaredjo and lived in Ungaren, giving his full time to the revision of the Javanese Bible. He died in January 1943 during the Japanese occupation of Java.
