Janneken van Hulle, an Anabaptist martyr, was burned at the stake on 7 November 1570 on the Vrijdagsmarkt at Ghent, Belgium, together with Janneken van Rentegem and Hans van der Weghe, because she had been rebaptized and partaken in the meetings of the Mennonites. Two years before, both Janneken van Hulle and her sister Cateline, of whom nothing is known, then fugitives, had been banished forever from the territory of Ghent, as Mennonites. Van Braght reports that Janneken was unmarried, and that with a gag in her mouth she died peacefully.
