Jan Portier, born at Komen (Commines) in Flanders and by trade a fuller, an Anabaptist martyr, was burned at the stake in November 1568 at Meesen (Messines), Flanders. Several times he was cruelly tortured, but did not recant, dying loyally for his Lord.
