Hostetler, Pius (1867-1937)

Pius Hostetler (1867-1937), was born in Elkhart County, Indiana, on 23 July 1867, the seventh son of Christian J. and Magdalena Hershberger Hostetler. He was married to Ella Zook in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, on 15 February 1892. They raised a family of two boys and three girls. He took a short normal course, taught school in the elementary grades, and was Sunday school superintendent and chorister in his church. He wrote two books: The Life, Preaching and Labors of John D. Kauffman (1916), and Drifted (1916). He lived in Cass County, Missouri, from his youth until 1910, when he moved to Pryor, Mayes County, Oklahoma. In 1912 he moved to Shelby County, Illinois, where he died on 2 July 1937, and where he was buried.
