The Hopefield (formerly Hoffnungsfeld) Mennonite Church, located four miles (6.4 kilometers) west of Moundridge, McPherson County, Kansas, formerly a member of the Western District Conference, is one of the oldest Mennonite churches in Kansas. It was founded in October 1874 under the leadership of Elder Jacob Stucky, by a group of 64 Swiss Mennonite families who had emigrated as a congregation from Volhynia, Russia, in August 1874. The congregation adopted the name Hoffnungsfeld but in 1880 it was chartered as the Hopefield Society of the Mennonite Church. Eight churches in central Kansas were organized wholly or in part by members and descendants from the original Hopefield congregation. The original frame structure was built in 1882. In later years the building was completely remodeled and redecorated. The 1953 membership was 100, with Archie Kliewer as pastor.
