Antoine (Antoon) I de Lalaing, 1st count (Graaf) of Hoogstraten and of Culemborg: a Dutch stadtholder; born in 1480, son of Joost de Lalaing and Bonne van Viefville. He married Elisabeth van Culemborg (1475-1555), from whom he inherited the titles of Hoogstraten and Culemborg. He died on 12 April 1540 in Ghent.

Antoine I de Lalaing was one of the confidential agents and co-operators of Charles V. In 1522 he was appointed stadholder of the provinces of Holland, Zeeland, and West-Friesland, and in 1528 also of Utrecht. Being an orthodox Catholic he was a violent opponent of heresies; he especially took severe measures to extirpate the Anabaptist movement at Amsterdam in 1534-1535.
