Hollatz, David (d. 1771)

David Hollatz (d. 1771) was a Protestant theologian of Pomerania, Germany, author of devotional literature, and pastor in Güntersberg from 1730 on. His books, some of which are still read, were also used by pietistically inclined Mennonites in the Palatinate, chiefly Evangelische Gnadenordnung (Basel, 1894); Gebahnte Pilgerstrasse nach dem Berge Zion (Basel, 1866); and Verherrlichung Christi in seinem theuren und unschätzbaren Blute (Basel, 1894). The Gnadenordnung (with Pilgerstrasse) was reprinted a number of times in the United States, first in Philadelphia in 1810. The second edition was reprinted by the Mennonite printer Heinrich Eby at Berlin, Canada, in 1844 under the title Heils und Gnaden Ordnung.
