Hoffnungsau Mennonite Fellowship (Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, Mexico)
The Hoffnungsau Mennonite Fellowship (General Conference Mennonite), Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, consists of a few General Conference families who came to Mexico after World War I. Most of the immigrants have meanwhile moved to the United States and Canada. Some Old Colony Mennonites fellowship in the Hoffnungsau Church.
H. P. Krehbiel was invited by the group to organize a church in 1938. For a while J. A. Janzen, who was ordained to the ministry within the group by J. M. Regier, served the congregation. Frank Dyck also served. Beginning in 1950 B. H. Janzen served the church, sponsored by the Mission Board of the General Conference Mennonite Church. During the extreme drought the congregation played a significant role in giving spiritual and material aid to the Old Colony Mennonites of the area. In 1954 there were 37 members with a total of 73 associated with the congregation.
