Matthias Hiller, a furrier of St. Gall, was baptized in Strasbourg by Jakob Gross, a member of the Strasbourg Anabaptist group, and probably left the city with Michael Sattler, with whom he suffered a martyr's death at Rottenburg am Neckar on 21 May 1527. He rejected the proffered pardon, saying that if he had seven heads he would offer them all for the sake of Christ.
