Van Heyst is a Dutch Mennonite family whose ancestor Michiel van Heyst, born 1556 at [[Antwerp (Belgium)|Antwerp]], died after 1627 in [[Amsterdam (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Amsterdam]], emigrated because of persecution from Antwerp to the [[Netherlands|Netherlands]], first to Haarlem (about 1595) and in 1610 to Amsterdam. His son was Pieter van Heyst, born 1598 at Haarlem, died 1647 at Amsterdam, where he was a broker.
