Hendrik Cramer (official name, Henrick Evert Valckerzoon), a native of Zutphen, Dutch province of Gelderland, an Anabaptist martyr, was executed at Amsterdam on 28 July 1535 after he had been tortured three times. In the charge brought against him, the following items are catalogued: he had been rebaptized at Coesfeld by Henrick Slachtscaep; he had associated with these Anabaptist heretics; he had as a peddler (cramer) visited Münster and left the city with Jan van Gheel (van Geelen) and two men from Friesland, transporting to Deventer in his peddler's pack some Anabaptist books printed in Münster, he had been aware of the Anabaptist assault (10-11 May 1535) on the town hall of Amsterdam, without informing the city government.
