Hendrik Anthonisz, an Anabaptist martyr, was captured with five fellow believers in 1552 at Amsterdam. Before the council they declared that they intended to remain loyal to their faith. The government ordered him and Reyer Egbertsz to be tortured on 28 June. Because they did not recant then, they were condemned to die at the stake on 6 August 1552. Hendrik confessed that he had not been baptized, but was "ready for it." Their property was confiscated. On the same day all in the group met their deaths at the stake.
