Abraham Heems, a Dutch Mennonite of Haarlem, Holland, married to Johanna van Dalen, of a Flemish emigrant family, silk manufacturer, d. after 1747, was the author of a number of religious poems. Among his publications were Absolon of de gestrafte Heerschzucht (Haarlem, n.d.); and Bijbelpoezy in Alleenspraken, Tafereelen, Uitbrei-dingen en Zedelessen (Amsterdam, 1729).

Heerns's daughter Femina (1724-1781), married to the Mennonite merchant Gerard Hugaart of Haarlem, also published a number of poems. Heems died in 1756. The Heems family, a number of whom served as deacons or as regents of the Mennonite orphanages, was in the 17th and 18th centuries rather numerous in Haarlem.
