Christoph Hartknoch was a Prussian historian, professor at the Gymnasium in Thorn, and the author of Die Preussische Kirchen-Historie (1686), which is still valid as a collection of source material for the 16th and (especially) the 17th centuries. This is true also for the history of the Prussian Mennonites, who are here treated for the first time, but from a biased, ecclesiastical view point.
