Grietgen van Sluys, an Anabaptist martyr according to van Braght (Martyrs' Mirror), born at Tielt in the Dutch province of Guelderland, was executed at Ghent, Belgium, in 1573. According to Verheyden (Gent, 61) she is identical with Beelken (Beliken) de Jaghere, who was burned at the stake at Ghent on 17 March 1573. But it seems more likely that she is the same person as Grietken Heyndrick of Hos near 's Hertogenbosch, Dutch province of North Brabant, who was 23 years old and married to Martin van der Sluys, who lived at Zomerghem near Ghent; this Grietken Heyndrick was burned on the same day as Beliken de Jaghere.
