Griet, the wife of Rein Edes, was a sister of Geertruydt, the wife of Menno Simons. She had been (re) baptized at Witmarsum, Dutch province of Friesland, by Douwe Schoenmaker. Afterwards she became doubtful of the validity of the baptism by a Münsterite and asked Menno Simons to rebaptize her. Menno Simons refused to administer this baptism, as did also Leenaert Bouwens. Menno wrote a letter to his sister-in-law (about 1557), which is found in his collected works.
