K. P. C. A. Gramberg, a physician, married to Helena Goossen, served 1921-1946 on [[Java (Indonesia)|Java]] under the [[Doopsgezinde Zendingsraad|Dutch Mennonite Mission Association]]. In 1930-1943 he was director of the medical mission in this field. In August 1943 he was arrested by the Japanese invaders and interned in a concentration camp. After his release in August 1945 he was for a short time again active in organizing the medical care on the mission field and restoring what had been destroyed or burned down by fanatical Muslims. In 1946 he returned to Holland.
