Maria learned about liniments and oils from him, and she followed his chiropractic methods. She was unable to charge any fees for her services as she was unlicensed, but she accepted gifts from the people she helped. Maria’s work was popular, and she stayed busy with making house calls and treating the people who came to her door. She continued to offer her chiropractic services for many years. She kept a garden in which she grew vegetables for the family, and she also grew beans for sale in St. Boniface. Despite a fire in 1972 that destroyed the Ginter house and most of Maria and Jacob’s belongings, she continued to enjoy hosting her children and grandchildren for family celebrations.  Maria died after an asthma attack on 23 July 1990 in Steinbach, Manitoba.
