The<em> Gesangbuch für Mennonitengemeinden in Kirche und Haus </em>was the second German songbook of the Mennonite churches of [[West Prussia|West Prussia]], published in 1869 to replace the <em>Gesangbuch, in welchem eine Sammlung . . . </em>and the original <em>[[Geistreiches Gesangbuch|Geistreiches Gesangbuch . ]]</em>[[G447.htm|<em>. .</em>]]<em> . </em>The book had 700 hymns, a collection of prayers, and indexes to which in the fourth edition (1901) were added 40 religious folk songs and Psalms of the Prussian Mennonite <em>Choralbuch, </em>published in 1898. This songbook was widely used among the Mennonites of [[Russia|Russia]] and America. The first three editions (Danzig 1869 and 1873, Elbing 1888) consisted of 8,000 copies and the fourth (Gütersloh 1901) and fifth (1922, n.p.) of 6,000 copies.
