Geerloff Gerritsz (Hemelinck), a martyr, was hanged at Utrecht in the Netherlands on 20 April 1570, for the simple reason that he had been present at a religious meeting held at night at Bunschoten, province of Utrecht, his home, and had listened to a sermon by a Mennonite preacher. It is not clear whether he was a Mennonite himself or not.
