Fresno, a city located in the [[San Joaquin Valley (California, USA)|San Joaquin Valley]], Fresno County, central [[California (USA)|California]], had a population of 100,000 in the 1950s, and by the year 2000, a population of 427,652. Fresno is in the center of the raisin industry area and is surrounded by rich farm lands producing not only a variety of fruits but also cotton, grain, and dairy products.
