Frans Tibau (Thybault), an Anabaptist martyr, originally from Ieper, Flanders, was beheaded at Antwerp, Belgium on 7 July 1558. The secret execution took place during the night in the Steenprison. Frans had been baptized only one year before. His name is also found in a song, "Aenhoort, Godt, hemelsche Vader" (Hear, O God, heavenly Father), found in the Liedtboecxken van den Offer des Heeren (1563) No. 16.
