Followers of Jesus Mennonite Church was founded in 1986 in Brooklyn, New York. The church had been a member of the Conservative Mennonite Conference before leaving that conference and becoming a charter member of the Biblical Mennonite Alliance in February 1999.

In 2015 the leading minister was Richard Schwartz and the associate pastor was Daniel Pollard. The congregational membership was 67 and the average weekly attendance was 124.
