Passchier de Fijne, born at Leiden, South Holland, whither  his parents  had fled  from  French Flanders to escape persecution, was at  first a weaver, then studied theology, and in 1611 became a Reformed pastor at Jaarsveld; in 1619 he was dismissed because of his Remonstrant opinions. Until 1633 he mostly traveled about in Holland, and from 1633 until his death he was a Remonstrant minister at Haarlem. De Fijne published a large number of pamphlets, some of which deal with the Mennonites. He defended them against the vilification of Petrus Bontemps, but found fault with the fact that so many Mennonites sympathized with the Rijnsburg Collegiants.
