Eloy (Loy, Lodewijk) Pruystinck, Anabaptist leader, by trade a slater, who was taken prisoner at Antwerp, Belgium, in July 1544, and after recanting was burned at the stake on 23 October 1544. He had many followers, called Eloisten or Loisten, not only in Antwerp, but also in Amsterdam and other towns. It is possible, though the matter is not clear, that he was a follower of David Joris.
