Elisabeth (Elysabeth) Bruyne, an Anabaptist martyr, wife of Janne de Snydere, was burned at the stake at Brussels on 5 May 1571, together with her husband. Their six children were baptized in the cathedral of St. Gudule at Brussels by a Catholic priest the very day the parents were executed.
