Ebersole (Ebersol, Eversole, Eversull, Aebersold, Ebersohl) is a Swiss family name found frequently in the [[Mennonite Church (MC)|Mennonite Church]] (MC) of North America, especially in [[Lancaster County (Pennsylvania, USA)|Lancaster County]], [[Pennsylvania (USA)|Pennsylvania]], and in [[Illinois (USA)|Illinois]]. Among the Ebersohl immigrants of the 18th century were Abraham (1727); Johannes, Peter, and Jost (1739); Carl (1753); and Jacob (1763). The [[Lancaster Mennonite Conference (Mennonite Church USA)|Lancaster Mennonite Conference]] has had several deacons by the name of Ebersole, seven or more ministers, and bishops Peter Ebersole (1791-1870) and John G. Ebersole (1849-1934). The Lancaster Conference in 1955 had a minister and a deacon named Ebersole, and [[Ohio and Eastern Mennonite Conference (MC)|Ohio and Eastern Mennonite Conference]] had Bishop Allen Ebersole. Among the first ministers in the Partridge, Illinois, congregation (now Metamora) was Andrew Ebersole. Frank S. Ebersole (General Conference Mennonite) (1875- ), former business manager of [[Goshen College (Goshen, Indiana, USA)|Goshen College]] (to 1912), served as mayor of [[Goshen (Indiana, USA)|Goshen]], Indiana, 1943-1948.
