Dan and Berni Warkentin began planting Discovery Church in the Pitt Meadows area in spring 1997 under the British Columbia (BC) Conference of Mennonite Brethren (MB) Churches Board of Church Extension, with regular services beginning in September 1997. In 2003 the church began meeting at Edith McDermott Elementary School in Pitt Meadows.

In November 2006 the congregation decided to move to the Maple Ridge area and began meeting at Colleen Findlay Place on 26 November, gathering for worship on Sunday evenings. In 2008 the church had 18 members and an average attendance of 30. By 2010 the average attendance was 60.
