Dieteren, a small town in the Dutch province of [[Limburg (Netherlands)|Limburg]], formerly belonging to the [[Jülich (Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany)|duchy of Jülich]]. By about 1534 it was a center of [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] activity. Dieteren, a small town in the Dutch province of Limburg, formerly belonging to the duchy of Jülich. By about 1534 it was a center of Anabaptist activity. Jan Smeitgen and Lenart van Ysenbroek baptized here, the latter baptizing the martyrs Bartholomeus van den Berghe and his wife Mente Heynen. After a short time the Anabaptist movement was entirely extinguished here.
