John R. Dick (1906-November 1985) was a minister, educator and conference leader in the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Conference (later named Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches). Born and raised in southern Manitoba, John R. Dick was ordained in 1935 by the Steinbach, Manitoba, EMB congregation, where he served as assistant pastor until 1936. He later pastored congregations in Henderson, Nebraska (1939-1941), Luton, Iowa (1941-1943), and Abbotsford, British Columbia (1959-1963). From 1943 to 1959 Dick was a faculty member and administrator at Grace Bible Institute in Omaha, Nebraska. He served as either president or vice-president of the EMB Conference, 1945-1964. His doctoral dissertation, "A Suggested Plan of Administration for the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Conference," (Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, 1953) remained the basis for the conference's administrative structure in 1986.
