Dalhousie Mennonite Brethren Church began services in 1984. The first building was occupied in 1984. Henry Willms, Henry Wall, and J. R. Klassen are considered the founding leaders of the group.The membership was organized in 1983 out of the Highland Mennonite Brethren Church before the first service was actually held in 1984. The congregation later changed its name to Dalhousie Mennonite Brethren Community Church and then to Dalhousie Community Church.

In 2003 the congregation planted Sema Community Church, a satellite congregation of Dalhousie.
