Cruciger, Kaspar (1504-1548)

Kaspar (Caspar) Cruciger (also Creuziger and Creutzinger), born 1 January 1504, died 16 November 1548, was the reformer of Leipzig, Germany, professor of theology in Wittenberg and co-worker with Luther. Cruciger followed Melanchthon in his views on the Anabaptists, and together with him, Luther and Bugenhagen signed the opinion of 5 June 1536 that Landgrave Philip of Hesse had requested of the Wittenberg theologians and which advocated capital punishment for Anabaptists.
