The Flin Flon Mennonite Brethren Church began in 1984 as a church planting effort of the Manitoba Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. Dale and Marge Warkentin are considered the founding leaders of the group. For the first several years the congregation met in various rental facilities with attendance varying from about 10 to 50. The church was able to purchase St. Peter’s Anglican Church in 1991 after two Anglican congregations merged.

The congregation shares its pastor with Northern Fellowship Chapel, an Evangelical Mennonite Conference (EMC) congregation in neighboring Creighton, Saskatchewan.

In 2006 the congregation changed it's name to Cornerstone Community Church of Flin Flon.
