Châtenois (Vosges, Alsace, France)
Châtenois (Kestenholz) is a village in the Leber Valley in Alsace, 12 miles (20 km) east of Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines (Markirch) and three miles (five km) west of Selestat (Schlettstadt), also formerly the name of a Mennonite church, which was later known as Markirch, and then as Weilertal (Val-de-Ville). The variation in name is due to the fact that the congregation did not have a church building, but met in the homes of the various members.
