The Christian Mission Church, located one mile (1.6 km.) north and one (1.6 km.) west of Berne, Indiana, was a 1954 outreach of the Maple View Conservative Mennonite Church in Geauga County, Ohio. A Sunday school began, and in summer 1954 Bishop Henry Stutzman baptized five persons and dedicated a schoolhouse as a place of worship. The early members were from the Old Order Amish Church. The Conservative Mennonite Church licensed William Stutzman in 1956 for service with the small group of 11 members. In 1961 Stutzman moved to Ohio, and Joe Swartz was ordained on 15 April 1962. In October 1971 Joe Schrock was licensed for work in the congregation.

Internal differences led to decline in membership, and the mission was closed in 1973. The group never exceeded about  35 members.
