Bucher (Bücher, Bougher, Bogar) family
Bucher, a Swiss Mennonite family name, has been found among both the German and North American Mennonites. In the early 18th century a Martin Boger was married to the daughter of immigrant Christian Bomberger of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Among the Buchers who have served as ministers in the Lancaster Conference are Jonas W. Bucher (1828-1904), minister of the Mummasburg congregation from 1897; John B. Bucher, ordained in the Hammer Creek congregation in 1892; and Simon Bucher, bishop beginning in the year 1940.
