Midway is located in southern British Columbia in the West Kootenay region, 51 km east of Osoyoos. It was originally known as Boundary City. Boundary Community Church began services in 1993 and formally organized in 1994. Vic and Mary Peters are considered the founding leaders of the group. The congregation originated through outreach by the British Columbia Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches Board of Church Extension and the Grand Forks Gospel Chapel.

In 2010 the congregation's membership was 46 and the average weekly attendance was 99.
