Bommel, Herman van (16th century)

Herman van Bommel (Hermann von Bommeln), formerly court chaplain of the Duke Karel van Gelre, in the Netherlands, joined the Anabaptists, and moved to Polish West Prussia, where he, 28 March 1547, obtained a large territory in the Danzig Werder (lowlands) for colonization of Dutch Anabaptists. He and Hugo Mathiszoon, a weaver from The Hague, were the preachers of the Danzig congregation about 1550.
