Biessovka (Samara Oblast, Russia)

Biessovka, a small Mennonite colony in the Russian province of Samara, settled by emigrants from the Alexandertal church (Altsamara). It was founded in 1890 by the private purchase of an estate of about 1,500 hectares (4,000 acres) and in 1915 numbered 6 farms and families with 35 persons. After 1903 it had its own school. It belonged to the congregation of the mother colony, about 10 miles (16 km) distant.
