'']]     Gabriel Bethlen (de Iktár) (Hungarian: <em>Bethlen Gábor</em>, Romanian: <em>Gabriel Bethlen</em>, German: <em>Gabriel Bethlen von Iktár</em> (1580-15 November 1629), of an old line of Hungarian Protestants, was in 1613 chosen prince of [[Transylvania|Transylvania]], and in 1621 king of [[Hungary|Hungary]], but declined this honor in the treaty of 1622 with [[Austria|Austria]]. He was a patron of the Moravian [[Hutterian Brethren (Hutterische Brüder)|Hutterites]], whose thoroughness in farming and in handicraft he had learned to know and appreciate. He aided the exiles from [[Moravia (Czech Republic)|Moravia]], and settled some of them on his estates in [[Alwinz (Transylvania, Romania)|Alwinz]]<em>. </em>Antal Aldasy, professor at the university of Budapest, published the contract (Latin) between Bethlen Gabor and the Hutterian Brethren settling in Transylvania.
