She served until her retirement in August 1972, meanwhile also having added the congregation at Vlissingen in 1968.
Bakker continued her academic work by collaborating with D.Plooij and C. A. Phillips on an edition of the Liege Diatessaron, a medieval Scripture manuscript. From 1960 to 1968 she was a member of the executive committee of the Algemene Doopsgezinde Societeit (ADS), and from 1969 to 1981 was chairperson of the educational center "Van Eeghenhuis.
