The Alberta Mennonite Relief Society was organized in 1946 at the instigation of C. F. Klassen to aid Russian Mennonite refugees stranded in Germany, but later devoted itself to aiding the settling of these refugees in Alberta, and to collecting money for relief needs in Paraguay. It served both the Mennonite Brethren and General Conference Mennonite groups throughout Alberta.
