Abbekerk, a village in the Dutch province of [[North Holland (Netherlands)|North Holland]], about ten miles (16 km) north of Hoorn, where there was a Mennonite congregation and church building until the middle of the eighteenth century. Some time before 1730 the congregation united with the one at [[Twisk (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Twisk]] about six miles beyond Hoorn. In the early days there was a <em>kerkepad</em> (church path) through the meadows to Twisk, made by the Mennonites going to church.
